Advice From One Mother to Another...

I know I am still considered a new mother, but in my short time as one, I have learned so much. I decided to put together a list of some things that may be helpful for another new mother. With so many of my friends pregnant now, this may come in handy.

  • You can never love your children too much.
  • Don't be afraid to ask for help.
  • Always bring an extra outfit (or two)
  • Your kids will get on your nerves some days- It is OK!
  • You will always know whats best for your own kid.
  • Don't let your child's doctor make you feel dumb for asking questions.
  • Play with your kids.
  • Get a routine with your kids, but be prepared, they usually don't last.
  • Don't let anyone tell you how to raise your kids.
  • Dance with your kids.
  • Tell your kids you love them everyday- you can never say it too much.
  • They will eat when they are hungry.
  • Corn starch works wonders for diaper rashes.
  • Always have Tylenol and Motrin on hand.
  • Try not to get frustrated when your baby cries- That is his/her's only way to communicate with you.
  • Teach your kids manners- There is nothing cuter than a kid that says please and thank you.
  • Take pictures.
  • Hold your kid's hand- It will become one of your favorite things.
  • Laugh with them.
  • Make sure you can handle embarrassment- They will test that out in public.
  • Popsicles are wonderful with a sick kid who won't eat or drink.
  • You will start to realize how you act when your kids start copying what you say and do.
  • Make sure to get some time for yourself or you will go nuts.
  • Say goodbye to bathroom privacy.
These are in no particular order and I'm sure there are a lot more to add, but this is all I could think of for now. Feel free to comment below and add your own advice!
